Encouraging creativity, diversity and collaboration, I have worked in an especially wide range of music settings including Pop, Classical, Jazz and Folk.

As a composer/arranger, I have been awarded commissions and artistic residencies for distinctive pieces in contemporary and popular music genres.

Singapore (2020– Now)

I am currently a lecturer of Popular Music at LASALLE | University of the Arts Singapore. In addition to helping to create an innovative horizontal curriculum, I curate:

  • LASALLE Rock & Indie Festival.
  • The Popular & Jazz Music workshops at the Ministry of Education’s EMP-MEP summer music camps.
  • Student showcases and ensemble recitals.

Cambridge (2014–2020)

From 2014-2020, I earned a PhD in Music Education focussing on Assessment of Improvisation in Music Examinations. I also:

  • Supervised undergraduates in Music and Education subjects.
  • Established Homerton Jazz, a music programme consisting of an 18-piece jazz orchestra and the University’s only student-led weekly jam session.
  • Was awarded the prestigious Barton Prize for making ‘the most outstanding contribution to Homerton College life over the past year’.

Ireland (2004– 2014)

Patrick was awarded an MA in Music Performance (flute) from The Irish World Academy at the University of Limerick. That led to a decade of adventures including:

  • Touring internationally as a flute player with The Irish Harp Orchestra & Irish Chamber Orchestra.
  • Developing and teaching new courses on Improvisation at the University of Limerick.
  • Teaching flute performance to undergraduates at The Irish World Music Centre.
  • Teaching and mentoring hundreds of young learners at The Croagh School of Music and The Irish Harp Centre.
